Episode 03 Circuit Breakers -Jax & Guest Peter Swanson
Clean
September 28, 2015 01:56 PM PDT

In this episode while Jay @BlueJayConcepts is off getting hitched we talk to Peter Swanson about what he’s doing with drones. Peter is working with fixed wing drones not the new fancier rotary style or quad copter style drones.

Peter goes a little deep on the history dating back to before radios and even remote controls, GASP! We even talk about the science behind flying at different altitudes, touch on what it takes for batteries on your quad copter versus fixed wing gasoline powered engines that are super efficient. The best part we declassify peter’s work a bit since the microphone loosens his lips.

We’ll have peter back for more for the future, we just got him started this time.

Hope you enjoy and we’ll be back to regularly scheduled fun next episode

@jax989 (Jax) and @bluejayconcepts (Jay) the guys who really break circuits every so often.

In this week’s episode we start covering more about tech and what’s going on around us. Jay finds out about gaming with Screeps MMOG - https://screeps.com/. Jax talks about Patrick’s cabinets, and raspberry pi downloads to turn your pi into an arcade system (http://www.iliketomakestuff.com/raspberry-pi-arcade-part-1/). Our Guest Chirag Gupta jumps in with gaming as well: Ludum Dare Game Jam: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/ludum-dare-game-jam-dallas-tickets-17506508438

We also get nerdy with AutoDesk http://www.solidsmack.com/cad/autodesks-new-incubator-partnership-puts-free-software-in-the-hands-of-hardware-entrepreneurs/ and how they can help you design some of your hardware or help with needs.

Dallas is getting a new Hardware Accelerator Rebel Dallas Hardware Accelerator - http://rebeldfw.com/ and @IzzyDiChiara is the person to talk to about them. Maybe a future guest.

Finally as we talk education with Chirag we learn about the Fall Tech Splash: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/fall-tech-splash-for-grownups-kids-tickets-17842512435 where even 2nd graders are learning how to code from Dr. Allen Sellars.

Dr. John at UNT http://engineering.unt.edu/content/dr-kuruvilla-john is starting to do cool things with environmental sensors and collecting data and eventually we may see drones collecting data on the North Texas Environment.
Chirag and Jax were wowed by high schoolers at the CAN Hacks event https://www.facebook.com/pages/CANHacks. The cool projects have lead to some cool potential remembering products.

Thanks to this weeks guest @ChicagoGupta and as always @Jax989 and @BluJConcepts to keep you straight.

This is our premier episode with Blu J Concepts (@blujconcepts) and Jax (@jax989) talking about all things hardware in Dallas and beyond. We realized there aren't that many good Internet of Things, Maker Podcasts out there and would like to find out more.

In this episode we talk about Microsoft's Hololens, Node Bots DFW, Thermoelectric chargers, and a few other things.

some of the show links:
nodebots can be found at http://noddfw.com/
